Had a truck come in with an overcharging problem 16 days after having a new alternator installed at another location within our company. Visible inspection found loose remote sense terminal on alt. removed rem sense wire & was able to turn stud by hand with no tightening effect present. Removed old alt & installed new reman 36SI p/n DR 8700047 but prior to installation I checked the rem sense terminal on it & it was loose as well. It tightened up fine but worked itself loose after initial run-up. It tightened up OK again & stayed tight after another run-up. Anyone else had thsi trouble with this particular alternator? Truck was a 2006 FTL century class S60 engine with rem sense option installed on the truck. Rem sense wire checked out good between alt & batt box. Did have to install new ring terminal on batt box end of wire mainly due to lack of proper batt maintenance & ring corroded off. Did that first before condemning the alt. Anything worth doing is worth doing well!! | ||
